The UK Values Alliance CIC is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our members, supporters and visitors to the UK Values Alliance CIC website and to the World Values Day website (which we are responsible for maintaining as part of our contribution to World Values Day). We do not sell, rent or trade email lists with any other organisation. In this Privacy Notice we provide detailed information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others, and how we keep it secure.

Members of the UK Values Alliance CIC

As part of the process for applying for or renewing membership of the UK Values Alliance CIC, we collect personal information. We use this information for our legitimate business interests to carry out our work aimed at building a better society by helping individuals and organisations be more aware of, understand and live their values. Before doing this, though, we carefully consider and balance any potential impact on you and your rights.

Some typical examples of when we might use the information for our legitimate interests would include using it for communicating about relevant activities including campaigns such as World Values Day, past and future events and useful resources through our newsletters or otherwise, maintaining the security of our system, data analytics, enhancing, modifying or improving our services, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our campaigns, fundraising and preventing fraud.

We do not share any individual’s personal information with third parties except with an individual’s permission. For instance, we have a membership discount arrangement available for Fellows of the RSA (The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) and we will share the names and relevant identifying data (but not other data) of those who apply for membership and who ask for that discount with the RSA solely to verify the applicability of the discount.

When we process your personal information for our legitimate interests, we will consider and balance any potential impact on you and your rights under data protection and any other relevant law.   Our legitimate business interests do not automatically override your interests – we will not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise required or permitted to by law).

As and when you cease to be a member, all your personal data will be removed from our systems unless we receive your consent to retain it.

Other supporters of the UK Values Alliance CIC and of World Values Day

In the case of (non-member) supporters of the UK Values Alliance CIC and of World Values Day, we collect personal information as part of the registration process for our e-newsletters and as part of that process we ask for your consent as to how we use that information. We use that information to send out the newsletters, to provide information about events, campaigns such as World Values Day, activities and useful resources; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to communicate on issues which may be relevant to you individually. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our e-newsletters. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletters. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us at contact@valuesalliance.co.uk.
